Jammu Tawi, Feb 26: The rift between coalition partners, the Congress and the National Conference (NC), in J&K has widened so much so that the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has requested both Rahul Gandhi and Kharge to visit J&K to resolve the deepening differences between Cong and the NC.
The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and the All India Congress Committee (AICC) President, Mallika Arjun Kharge, are likely to visit the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu Kashmir (J&K) next month to work out the differences between the Congress and its coalition partner, the National Conference (NC).
The Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has requested both Rahul Gandhi and Kharge to visit J&K to resolve the deepening differences between Congress and the NC.
“We have requested both Rahul Gandhi and Kharge to visit J&K through our party’s official communication,” JKPCC Chief Spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, informed the Northlines, while adding, “they are most likely to visit J&K next month”.
Sharma, however, said that the dates of the visit of Rahul Gandhi and Kharge are being finalized. Meanwhile, the JKPCC has directed all its party workers to be well prepared for the upcoming visit of Rahul Gandhi and Kharge to J&K in March.
Both Rahul and Kharge will also address Kissan Sammelan at Jammu and a Horticulture meet at Kashmir during their visit to J&K.
Both Rahul and Kharge are most likely to visit J&K after Ramzan, sources said. It may be mentioned that the differences between the Congress and the NC surfaced immediately after the formation of NC govt in J&K as the Congress did not join the government.
These differences grew further after NC denied Rajya Sabha seat to Cong. Then later, there was no coordination meeting of NC and Cong since the formation of govt in J&K.
Apart from this, the Cong with 6 MLAs in the 90 member House, sent only its one MLA, Nizamiddin Bhatt to the coalition-partners last meeting before the current session, just as a formality to send a message that all is not right between the coalition partners.
Highly placed sources said that Rahul and Kharge will visit J&K with the main motive of resolving issues between Cong and NC. They said that both the top leaders of Congress, during their visit to J&K, will meet top leadership of NC to make sure that both Cong and NC work together, leaving their difference aside.
