The success achieved by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in recovering Rs 9000 counterfeit currency and huge consignment of 1937.80 grams of cocaine worth over Rs 19 lakh from a smuggler in Samba District has come as an opportunity to catch the big fish in this whole gamut by carrying out thorough investigation. As the drug smuggler has been identified and arrested, it is the time that the cops should make this feat a stepping stone for reaching out to those who have provided the aforementioned narcotics consignment to the smuggler for selling the same.
It is imperative that the men in Khaki should not allow this opportune time to go in vain as proper investigation in the matter could lead to many important disclosures which might prove helpful in making J&K drugs-free. This case has also exposed that threat of counterfeit currency is also looming large in J&K and most probably there might be a Pakistani link in this entire case as in the past also such links have been unraveled that had hinted that Pakistan is abetting narco-terrorism in a big way through various means including smuggling of counterfeit currency, narcotics consignments and the arms and ammunition using gaps along the border.
The cops should take this opportunity as the last chance to catch hold of those abetting this scourge in J&K to fuel terrorism and ruin the next generation fully by transforming meaningful youth energy into futile force by seamlessly providing drugs to people at their doorsteps. The police should also ensure that the man arrested in the aforesaid case should be given the strictest possible punishment under law to set an example and deter others from indulging in such anti-national activities having potential to dent the interests of the country and the countrymen.
It is utmost necessary that this case should be treated as a serious warning and concerted efforts should be initiated to identify and dismantle the networks facilitating this illegal business having a potential to derail the peace process in J&K.
For sure, if this chance is missed the failure will embolden the anti-national elements. All said and done, it is the need of the hour to take timely and firm action sending a strong message that unscrupulous elements will not be allowed to carry out their nefarious designs for satiating their vested interests while harming the society in an irreversible manner.
