New Delhi: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Delhi and several other cities across the country have been placed on high alert following intelligence warnings of possible threats from Khalistani and Bangladesh-based terror outfits.
According to intelligence sources quoted by news agency ANI, agencies have cautioned that Khalistani terrorist organisations and Bangladesh-based terror groups may attempt to target Delhi and other major cities around January 26.
The alert notes that Punjab-based gangsters are increasingly being used as foot soldiers by Khalistani and other radical handlers operating from abroad. These handlers are allegedly exploiting local criminal networks to advance their agendas and undermine internal security.
Intelligence inputs further suggest that such gangsters are active across Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, and are gradually establishing operational links with Khalistani terrorist elements, raising concerns for law enforcement agencies. (Agencies)
