Jammu, Jan 12: A cold morning accompanied by dense fog disrupted normal movement across Jammu on Monday, leading to low visibility and delays in transport services, officials said.
The foggy conditions resulted in poor visibility during the early hours, causing thin vehicular movement on city roads as motorists drove cautiously, particularly on major arterial routes and entry points to the city, traffic officials said.
Air traffic was also affected, with three morning flights delayed at Jammu airport due to low visibility caused by dense fog. Officials said the delayed flights were operating on the Jammu–Srinagar, Jammu–Delhi and Jammu–Indore sectors.
Airport authorities said flight operations were impacted during the early hours and schedules were adjusted in accordance with prevailing weather conditions to ensure passenger safety. Travellers were advised to check updated flight timings with their respective airlines.
Weather officials said such foggy conditions are common during winter mornings in the Jammu region and may continue intermittently depending on temperature and moisture levels.
Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored and commuters have been urged to exercise caution while travelling during early morning hours amid dense fog. [KNT]
