JAMMU, Jan 10: A pigeon suspected to have crossed over from across the border was caught in a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu on Saturday, officials said.
The pale grey pigeon, bearing two black bars on each wing, was found with red and yellow rings attached to its legs. The rings were inscribed with the words “Rehmat Sarkar” and “Rizwan 2025,” along with certain numbers, raising suspicion among security agencies.
Officials said the bird was caught in Kharah village by a 13-year-old boy, identified as Aryan, during the morning hours. On closer inspection, stamps were also noticed on the wings of the pigeon.
Following the incident, the pigeon was handed over to the Pallanwala police station for further investigation to ascertain its origin and purpose.
Authorities said the matter is being examined as a precautionary measure, given the sensitive nature of the border area. (Agencies)
