PM Modi to Hoist Saffron Flag at Ayodhya Ram Temple Tomorrow

New Delhi/Ayodhya, Nov 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ayodhya on Tuesday to ceremonially hoist a saffron flag atop the spire of the Ram Janmbhoomi Temple, marking the completion of its construction, the PMO said.

The triangular 10-by-20-foot flag features a radiant Sun symbol representing Lord Rama’s valour, along with an ‘Om’ and the Kovidara tree. According to the PMO, the sacred flag symbolises dignity, unity and cultural continuity, echoing the ideals of Ram Rajya.

The flag will be placed on a ‘shikhar’ built in the traditional Nagara architectural style. The surrounding 800-metre Parkota, designed in South Indian style, reflects the temple complex’s architectural diversity.

During his Ayodhya visit, PM Modi will also visit the Saptmandir complex, Sheshavtar Mandir, Mata Annapurna Mandir, and perform darshan and pooja at Ram Darbar Garbh Grah, followed by darshan at Ram Lalla Garbha Grah.

Around noon, the prime minister will hoist the saffron flag in a ceremony described as a new chapter of cultural celebration and national unity. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The event coincides with the Panchami date of Shukla Paksha in Margashirsha, aligning with the Abhijit Muhurat of Shri Ram and Maa Sita’s Vivah Panchami. The day also marks the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who meditated in Ayodhya for 48 hours in the 17th century, further deepening the day’s spiritual significance.

The temple complex showcases 87 stone-carved episodes from the Valmiki Ramayana on its outer walls and 79 bronze-cast cultural episodes along its enclosure, offering visitors a rich insight into Lord Rama’s life and India’s heritage. (Agencies)
