    Brace Up Security!

The Jammu Kashmir Police though doing fine on the security front have to stretch further its security arm and urgently needed to brace up security following the bomb blast near Red Fort in Delhi toeing the line of security agencies of many other states and cities across the country.

Reportedly, after the deadly terror strike in Delhi, police departments of many states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Goa, etc. have heightened their security protocols with strict vigil being maintained at the airports, railway stations and bus terminals. Considering the threat perception, it has become imperative for the men in Khaki in Jammu province to revisit the security Bandobast afresh and ensure failsafe deployment of the cops at the strategic points across the region.

It has become extremely important to renew emphasis on anti-terror measures and enhance police visibility on the ground especially the night patrolling across the region, as the situation is crucial because the terror strike at Red Fort has to be taken as a challenge posed by the adversaries of the country after the IB and JKP have claimed that they have foiled a big terror threat meant for states and cities across northern India.

In the present scenario, proactive intelligence sharing and close coordination among all security agencies are indispensable. The police leadership must convene regular inter-agency meetings to review threat assessments and plug possible loopholes. Preventive surveillance of vulnerable locations, coupled with timely flow of intelligence inputs from both formal and informal channels, can help in neutralizing threats before they manifest. Strengthening community policing and ensuring swift communication between field officers and control rooms can further enhance the preparedness level of the entire security grid.

The need of the hour is to intensify security at all possible places which can be the targets of the terror mongers. The police in Jammu Region should work in tandem with intelligence agencies to contain all the threats and ensure counter measures effectively before it is too late. Looking at the critical scenario with regard to security challenges, it is necessary to take leverage of technology-driven monitoring systems to remain ahead of those who want to vitiate peace.

Citizens should also be asked to act as ears and eyes of the government and report any suspicious incident to the nearest security picket or a police station without wasting even a jiffy as time is a big constraint in dealing with such threats in real time. It is often community alertness that helps avert potential tragedies.

The police should intensify night patrols and go for random checks as surprise inspections can act as effective deterrents against such nefarious designs. Unceasing vigilance is the need of the hour and therefore all the stakeholders are required to be on tenterhooks to ensure that terrorism should not play a spoilsport again.
