J&K: Father of Red Fort Blast Suspect Detained in Pulwama

Srinagar, Nov 11: Police in Pulwama district on Tuesday detained the father of Delhi blast suspect Umar Nabi for questioning, as investigations into the Red Fort car explosion intensify, officials said.

Ghulam Nabi Bhat, a resident of Koil village, was picked up hours after his wife underwent a DNA test, police sources confirmed. The move comes amid widening probes into the deadly blast near the Red Fort Metro Station that killed 12 people and injured over 20 on Monday evening.

Investigators have also detained several doctors who worked with Umar Nabi in Faridabad, as well as three individuals linked to the sale and purchase of the Hyundai i20 car used in the explosion. However, no formal arrests have been made so far.

According to Delhi Police sources, Umar Nabi, a doctor from Pulwama, was allegedly driving the car when it exploded. CCTV footage reportedly shows him moments before the blast. He is suspected to have connections with a terror module busted in Faridabad, where 360 kg of ammonium nitrate and arms were recently recovered.

Preliminary forensic reports suggest the use of ammonium nitrate, fuel oil, and detonators in the blast. Investigators are probing possible links between the Delhi explosion and the Faridabad terror module, with final reports awaited. (Agenices)
