Following a detailed reportage by Northlines regarding damaged and insecure school building, the Zonal Education Officer of Lower Hathal has demanded auction of old building materials and deadwood stocks.
As per the letter, signed by the Zonal Education Officer, reports that inspections revealed several school buildings, including Government Middle School Nahoti, are severely damaged and unfit for use.
In its letter to CEO, the officer has requested the formation of a committee to auction old building materials, heaps of debris on the way to school and dead wood stocks.
The letter reads, “It is to bring in your kind notice that there are damaged buildings in different schools of this zone. The undersigned visited different schools and found that the buildings that are not in use is needed to make auctions to avoid any mishappening in the school premises,” letter adds, “also various applications received from schools in this regard. So it is humbly requested to your goodself kindly constitute a committee for auction of old building materials and dead wood stocks.”
Meanwhile, sources said that a single ZEO has raised the alarm visited the affected schools, yet broader departmental action has been slow.
