NEW DELHI, May 13 — Girls have once again outperformed boys in the CBSE Class 12 board examinations, securing a pass percentage of 91.64%, over five percentage points higher than boys’ 85.70%, the board’s Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj announced on Tuesday.

The overall pass percentage this year stands at 88.39%, a slight improvement over last year’s 87.98%. A total of 1,11,544 students scored above 90%, while 24,867 achieved over 95% marks.

Transgender candidates recorded a 100% pass rate this year, a significant jump from last year’s 50%. However, more than 1.29 lakh students have been placed in the compartment category, indicating areas for academic support and intervention.

A total of 16,92,794 students appeared for the examination. “These results reflect the consistent efforts of students and educators despite challenges,” Bhardwaj noted.

The CBSE Class 12 exams were conducted nationwide, with results expected to influence college admissions and career planning for lakhs of students. The board has advised students placed in the compartment category to prepare for the supplementary exams scheduled in the coming months.
