‘Jammu, Srinagar Airports ready to handle flight ops’

Jammu, May 12: The flight operations at the Jammu airport and 31 others, mostly in north India and western parts of the country, are set to resume soon.

The development follows a ceasefire after hostilities broke out between India and Pakistan.

“The air space is open and the airport is ready to handle the flight operations,” SK Garg, Station Director, Jammu Airport said.

Garg said, “We are ready and now it is up to the airlines how early they restore the flight operations.”

According to the Airports Authority of India, the 32 airports that were temporarily closed are now available for civilian aircraft operations with immediate effect.

“…Reference notice issued for temporary closure of 32 Airports for civil Aircraft operations till 05:29 hrs of May 15, 2025. It is informed that these airports are now available for civil aircraft operations with immediate effect. It is recommended for travellers to check flight status directly with airlines and monitor airline’s websites for regular updates,” the AAI statement said.

The airports were shut on May 7 following tension due to Operation Sindoor, a precision strike by Indian armed forces on terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Similarly, the Srinagar International Airport is ready for flight operations after the Airports Authority of India announced the resumption of civilian flights at 32 such facilities.

These airports were temporarily shut last week in view of the military standoff between India and Pakistan. The AAI, along with other aviation authorities, had issued a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), announcing the closures across northern and western India.

On Monday, an official said, “Aerodrome closure NOTAM has been revoked and Srinagar Airport is ready to facilitate flight operations.”

He said a response from airlines about the resumption of flights was awaited. Hajj flights from Srinagar were also affected due to the closure of the Srinagar airport.
