Jammu Tawi: On the auspicious occasion of Holi, Sadguru Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj of Sahib Bandagi captivated the visiting devotees with his profound discourse in Ranjdi. He shared insights on the nature of the body, mind, and soul, emphasizing that the mind is the true force behind all actions and experiences in the body.
Sadguru Ji began by comparing the mind to the central force that governs every part of the body. He explained that if one were to churn the body, only the mind would emerge. “Every hair on your body is obedient to the mind,” he said, underscoring the deep connection between mind and body. He further elaborated that without the power of the soul, not even a single hair could function. “The soul has wrapped itself in its own power, and due to ignorance, the whole world lives in deception,” he added.
Sadguru Ji drew an analogy with dreams to explain the illusion of the world. “When you wake up from a dream, you realize it was not real. However, while you are dreaming, it feels completely true,” he said. He pointed out that regardless of intelligence, all individuals experience this illusion in the same way, and the world itself is just a dream. He referred to the teachings of Saint Kabir, who spoke of the world as an illusion, and many had dismissed his words, failing to understand their deeper meaning.
He continued, comparing the mind to a drone, which is operated by a person from a distance. “The mind is the doer of everything in the body. Whatever the mind desires, the body follows. There is no bigger enemy than your mind. Everything around you is a deception, and very few are able to understand this,” he said.
Sadguru Ji then highlighted the true nature of the soul. He stated that the soul is immortal, ageless, and blissful, as emphasized by all religions. Yet, due to the distractions of the material world, people rarely reflect on the soul’s true essence. He urged the devotees to realize that the soul is the source of ultimate happiness, and it is this very soul that they embody.
The discussion turned towards the struggles of human life, as Sadguru Ji reflected on the state of the world. “Today, brother fights brother. A big lawyer told me that 90 percent of court disputes are family-related,” he said. He emphasized that the root cause of these conflicts is the mind’s influence on individuals. “Here, no one truly belongs to anyone. People are lost in the happiness of the body and its desires, focusing on material possessions, fame, and relationships,” he explained.
Sadguru Ji discussed the various qualities of the mind—Satoguna (goodness), Rajoguna (passion), and Tamoguna (ignorance)—and how they influence actions. He used the analogy of a magician controlling a monkey to show how the mind controls the soul, shaping its experiences and actions. “The mind is both the demon and the god,” he said, adding that it is responsible for the soul’s suffering and joys alike.
In closing, Sadguru Ji reminded the devotees that time, in the form of the mind, is always with the soul, but the ignorant fail to recognize it. He urged them to seek self-knowledge and to break free from the illusions created by the mind.
Finally, Sadguru Ji wished a joyful Holi to all the countrymen, encouraging them to celebrate with a deeper understanding of the mind, the soul, and the ultimate truth.
