New Delhi, Jan 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasized his government’s ongoing commitment to serving rural India, stating that since assuming office in 2014, he has consistently worked to address the challenges faced by rural areas. Speaking at the inauguration of the Bharat Grameen Mahotsav 2025 at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, PM Modi reflected on the importance of empowering rural India and providing people in villages with opportunities to improve their lives.
“At the beginning of the year 2025, this grand event of Grameen Bharat Mahotsav is showcasing India’s development journey and creating a unique identity. I congratulate NABARD and all those involved in organizing this event,” he said.
Recalling his childhood in a small town, PM Modi shared his personal understanding of the struggles and potential of rural areas. He noted that despite their hard work, rural communities often lack access to necessary resources and opportunities.
Outlining the vision of his government, PM Modi stated, “Giving people in villages a dignified life is my government’s priority. Our vision is to empower rural India, provide opportunities, prevent migration, and make lives easier.” He highlighted various initiatives aimed at guaranteeing basic facilities in every village.
PM Modi also enumerated the significant achievements of his government over the past decade, including providing clean drinking water to millions of households, improving healthcare access through over 1.5 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and connecting rural areas to digital health services. He also pointed to the continuation of the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, which was recently extended for another year.
Addressing rural artisans and skilled workers, PM Modi emphasized the government’s efforts to support traditional arts through the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, providing them with opportunities to advance.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the extension of a One-time Special Package for Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) to ensure its affordable availability for farmers, despite rising global prices. “We decided to stabilize DAP prices for farmers by increasing subsidies. The policies of our government are filling rural India with new energy,” he asserted.
Earlier, PM Modi inaugurated the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 and interacted with artisans. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and NABARD Chairperson Shaji KV were also present. The six-day Mahotsav, held from January 4 to 9, is themed ‘Building a Resilient Rural India for a Viksit Bharat 2047’.
