Shweta Mittal becomes first woman from J&K to win Procam Slam Marathon Title

Jammu, December 15: Shweta Mittal, a dedicated runner, cyclist, and fitness enthusiast, has made history by becoming the first woman from Jammu & Kashmir to win the prestigious Procam Slam Marathon title. She achieved this remarkable feat on Sunday at the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K, which was part of the renowned Procam Slam program.

The Procam Slam is a prestigious running series that honors amateur runners who successfully complete four major Procam events: the Tata Mumbai Marathon, TCS World 10K Bengaluru, Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, and Tata World 25K Kolkata. To be crowned a Procam Slam Champion, runners must finish each event within strict time limits: the marathon in under 6 hours and 30 minutes, the 10K in under 1 hour 25 minutes, the half marathon in under 3 hours 30 minutes, and the 25K in under 3 hours 45 minutes.

Shweta demonstrated exceptional perseverance and skill throughout the demanding program, culminating in her victory at the Kolkata marathon. More than 20,000 athletes from across the country and abroad participated in the event, and Shweta’s performance stood out as a testament to her dedication and passion for the sport.

Speaking about her achievement, Shweta expressed pride in participating in such an esteemed international event. “It was a proud moment for me to participate in such an international event. I believe nothing is difficult if you decide to achieve it. We should not participate just to win the race, but participation itself is much more important,” she said. She further encouraged others to embrace running and cycling as the best ways to improve health and build endurance.

Shweta Mittal’s impressive achievements extend beyond the Procam Slam. She has been a consistent performer in various events, including the 70.3 Ironman Duathlon (podium finisher for three consecutive years: 2022, 2023, and 2024), 10K Hearth Marathon 2024, and the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024. Her other notable accomplishments include podium finishes at the Jammu Marathon, Patnitop Half Marathon, Katra Half Marathon, and Ganga Sustainability Run, among others.

Her determination and accomplishments have made her a role model for young athletes, inspiring others to pursue fitness and sports with unwavering dedication.
