President Droupadi Murmu has overseen a reshuffling of top state leadership roles last week, appointing nine new Governors across various states. Among those tapped for the prestigious positions are veteran BJP leader and former Union Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar, who will take charge in Jharkhand. Other appointments include seasoned politician Raman Deka in Chhattisgarh and businessman Jishnu Dev Varma in Telangana.
Joining them are seasoned bureaucrat Om Prakash Mathur in Sikkim, politician C. P. Radhakrishnan who will now oversee affairs in Maharashtra, and Assam’s current Governor Gulab Chand Kataria who moves to Punjab. Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya was also given additional oversight of Manipur.
The reshuffle aims to infuse diverse expertise and experience at the highest state levels. Gangwar brings decades of involvement in national politics while Deka and Varma offer successful private sector backgrounds. Mathur, Radhakrishnan and Kataria each have long track records in public administration. Acharya takes on an expanded northeast portfolio.
All appointments were officially signed into effect by President Murmu last week and will see the governors assume their new roles upon taking charge of the respective offices. The changes are part of routine updates to maximize governance capacity across the country’s diverse regions. Citizens can be assured their states remain in capable hands under this esteemed lineup of leaders.
