About 97 pc work done on Jammu Udhampur Highway patch

SRINAGAR: While 97 per cent work has been done on four-lanning of the highway, connecting with the rest of the country, on Udhampur highway patch, it was just one per cent between Ramban and Banihal and three per cent between Udhampur and Chenani.

This information was given by Minister incharge Public Works Abdul Rehman Veeri in a reply in the Legislative Council today.   He said four-lanning of Jammu-Srinagar national highway has been undertaken by the National Highways Authority of in six packages.

He said about 97 per cent work has been done on Jammu to Udhampur while the completion date for remaining three per cent is December 2016. From Udhampur to Chnani and Nashri to Ramban only three per cent has been done, he said adding however, the deadline is December 2018 for its completion.

He said from Chnani to Nashri, including nine km-long tunnel, 86 per cent work has been done and deadline for completion of the work is next month.   The reply said only one per cent work has been done on Ramban-Banihal stretch. However, the deadline for completion of this portion is June 2019.

About 61 per cent work has been done from Banihal to Sriangar while 51 per cent work has been completed between Banihal and Qazigund deadline for which is next month and July 2017 respectively, the reply said.
