    6 Drug Peddlers Held in Anantnag; Over 3.7 Kg Narcotics, Cash Seized

    Anantnag, Apr 19: Continuing its intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police on Sunday arrested six drug peddlers in three separate operations, recovering over 3.7 kilograms of narcotics and ₹10,450 in cash, officials said.

    In the biggest operation, a police team from PS Anantnag intercepted four suspects during naka checking at Danter. The accused attempted to flee but were apprehended, leading to the recovery of 3.178 kg of a ganja powder-like substance along with cash. Three accused were identified, while one managed to escape. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.

    In another operation by PP Sangam at Marhama Crossing, police intercepted a vehicle and arrested two occupants. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of small quantities of brown sugar and charas-like substances. A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered.

    Separately, PS Bijbehara police apprehended one person at Doodhnad Waghama and recovered 468 grams of charas powder from his possession. A case has been registered in this regard.

    Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, asserting that strict action against peddlers will continue. The public has been urged to share information about drug-related activities, with assurance of confidentiality for informants. (Agencies)
