24 fresh cases in Kashmir, till-date infected 184 in JK; 43798 persons under observation

Tawi, Apr 09: 24 more patients from division tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
All the 24 are from Kashmir valley, 12 are from Hajin, including11 of the family members of Hajin man, who died on 6th April.

With 24 fresh cases coming to fore on Wednesday, the total number of cases testing positive in Jammu and Kashmir has risen to 184, out of which 175 are active, 151 in Kashmir division and 32 cases in Jammu division. 4 patients have died so far, while 6 have recovered.
A lady from Udhampur in Jammu division died on Wednesday evening, who had tested positive for coronavirus.
The Government Thursday informed that till date 184 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 out of which 174 are active positive, six have recovered and four have died.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 184 positive cases, 152 are from Kashmir and 32 from Jammu division.
Furthermore, till date 43798 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which include 8157 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 478 in Hospital Quarantine, 174 in hospital isolation and 25975 under home surveillance. Besides, 9010 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period.
The Bulletin said that till date test report of 2649 samples has been received out of which 2465 are negative, and 184 as positive.
The bulletin urged the general public to stay indoors, strictly implement social distancing measures, disclose recent travel history to COVID-19 affected countries and report any contact with positive cases voluntarily.
The bulletin stressed on people to take care of their bodies during home stay by ensuring to stay hydrated, eating balanced diet and resting well.
People are reiterated to use Aarogya Setu mobile application developed by Government of that uses Bluetooth and GPS to inform you when you might possibly be at risk of exposure. The users of the app are empowered with better information on the potential risk of infection, self- assessment tools and contextual advice. The app can be downloaded for Android on Google Play and iOS on Apple App Store.
General public is advised to avoid unnecessary visit to hospitals, in case anyone develops fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical advice promptly. People should call on Covid-19 helpline No.s so that they can be provided correct medical advice and directed to the right facility, if needed.
In case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 at their door steps by calling on toll free No. 108. Pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll free No. 102.
In addition, a toll free national helpline number 1075. J&K Covid-19 Helpline No.s 0191- 2549676 (UT level Cell), 0191-2520982, 0191-2674444, 0191-2674115 (For Jammu Division), 0194-2440283 & 0194-2430581(For Kashmir Division) are available for support, guidance, and response to health related queries on Novel Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19).
With regard to personal hygiene, the bulletin advised on frequent hand washing with soap and water and to observe, coughing and sneezing etiquettes.

 

  • 50 gathered in Mosque for Namaz in Bandipore, 17 arrested

Police on Wednesday evening arrested 17 persons in connection with an attempt to offer collective late night prayers in view Shab-i-Barat in a local mosque at Nesbal area of Sumbal Sub-district of Kashmir's Bandipora District.
Official Sources told CNS that 17 persons were picked up by the police in Pethpora Nesbal after people tried to gather in a local mosque for offering late night prayers in view of Shab-e-Barat.
SDM Sumbal Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari in a facebook post said that some more than 50 persons, mostly elders who assembled in a local mosque in Nesbal village to offer late night (Shab) Prayers.
When SDM Sumbal along with SDPO, SHO and Police personnel tried to persuade the gathering to disperse some youth resorted to stone pelting injuring his driver who was later hospitalised and his condition is said to stable, he added.
Meanwhile, SHO Sumbal confirmed the arrest and said that 17 people were arrested and a case under relevant sections of law in this regard has been registered and further investigations have been taken up. (CNS)
