New Delhi, Dec 5: Delhi Airport on Friday issued an advisory alerting passengers to significant operational disruptions that have triggered widespread delays and cancellations across domestic flights, including more than 225 IndiGo services.
The airport cautioned travellers to check their flight status directly with airlines before heading to the terminal, citing “operational challenges affecting certain domestic services.” It added that on-ground teams are coordinating with all partners to minimise inconvenience and ensure smoother passenger movement.
IndiGo has been hit the hardest, with cancellations soaring to 170–200 flights per day—far above normal levels. By Friday morning, over 225 IndiGo arrivals and departures had already been cancelled from Delhi alone, with reports suggesting the overall national figure had crossed 500 flights.
Amid the disruptions, IndiGo has sought temporary exemptions from specific Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) rules for its A320 fleet until February 10, 2026, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said. The request came after a detailed review meeting between IndiGo’s senior leadership and the regulator on Thursday.
According to DGCA, the airline assured that corrective measures are underway and that full operational stability will be restored by February 10, 2026. The exemptions, if approved, are aimed at reducing passenger inconvenience while maintaining required safety margins.
Passengers have been advised to stay updated on their flight schedules and plan travel accordingly to avoid last-minute disruptions. (Agencies)
