145 militants active in Kashmir: Govt

Srinagar, June 21: and Government on Tuesday informed that a total number of 4587 militants reportedly, have crossed Line of Control (LoC).

In response to questions raised by two opposition members including Omar Abdullah, JK Home department told the Lower House of the J&K Legislature, “Reportedly, 4587 youth have crossed over to Pakistan.” “15 Youth have returned via Nepal since January 2015 till date.”

The government in response to another question said that J&K Government has sanctioned a “policy and Procedure for rehabilitation of mis-guided youth, who have crossed to Pakistan but have given up militancy activities.”

The said policy, government said, have recognized. However, it added that Nepal is not a recognised route but the issue has been taken up with Government of .

In response to another question, the government said that, “reportedly, 145 militants are active in the State, out of which 91 are locals and 54 are foreigners.  The government further informed the House that, “489 youth along with their wives and children have returned from Pakistan occupied Kashmir to Jammu and Kashmir via Nepal with effect from 2003 till 22nd May, 2016.
