 ‘No non state subject covered under the scheme'

, Jan 23 : Jammu and Government targets to cover 1,21,671 families under Government of 's “Housing for All” Scheme in the first phase.

According to KNS, in a written reply in Legislative Council to a question raised by Congress MLC G N Monga, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, who is also in charge minister for Housing and Urban Development said, “Housing demand survey was conducted for 25 cities/towns selected in phase 1st according to the guidelines and formats prescribed by Ministry of Housing and Poverty Alleviation GoI.”

Giving the breakup, Singh said that 15300 beneficiaries have been identified under Slum Redevelopment, 24523 under Credit Linked Subsidy, 5200 under Affordable Housing in partnership and 76648 under Beneficiary Led Construction.

Till date, he said, the Government of India has approved six projects in Baramulla, Anantnag, Udhampur and Kathua towns where construction of houses for 480 identified beneficiaries have been started. “In Baramulla construction on 83 houses of beneficiary families is going on while the number is 141 in Udhampur, 124 in Kathua and 132 in Anantnag,” he said.

To a question whether any non-state subject has got benefited under the Scheme, the Minister replied in negative.

The scheme has been divided into three categories. First category is beneficiary led construction in which the deserving would get Rs1.5 lakh subsidy for construction or repair of the house having less than 30 square feet plinth area.

The second category is for economically backward people having annual income of less than Rs 6 lakh. Under this category, Government of India would provide 6.5 percent interest subsidy to the beneficiaries.

Third component of the scheme is for slum redevelopment where the government appointed consultants would provide 1BHK flats to the households living in government declared slums. (KNS)
