Chandigarh: Total 110 fibroids were removed successfully through laparoscopic procedure from a woman’s uterus at Max Hospital, Mohali recently.
The 38 years old patient came to Max with secondary infertility, having difficulty conceiving after her first child. Her condition was complicated by numerous uterine fibroids, which are non-cancerous growths causing severe pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and infertility. An ultrasound revealed multiple fibroids scattered throughout her uterus, preventing her from maintaining pregnancies and conceiving easily.
Dr. Seema Wadhwa, director obstetrics and gynecology at Max performed a laparoscopic myomectomy and hysteroscopy to remove the fibroids.
The marathon surgery was meticulously planned to ensure the preservation of the patient’s uterus and ovaries, said Dr. Seema.
“This complex procedure aimed not only to remove the fibroids but also to reconstruct the uterus to its near-normal shape, enhancing the patient’s chances of conceiving again.”
Dr. Seema further said that our primary goal was to enable the patient to conceive while maintaining the integrity of her reproductive organs. We are thrilled with the outcome and the patient’s recovery.
This successful surgery offers hope for many women facing similar challenges and showcases the advanced capabilities of laparoscopic surgery in managing complex gynecological conditions, she maintained.
