Mendhar, Nov 02: The security forces on Monday arrested a man in Mendhar town of Poonch district and recovered a huge consignment of narcotics from his possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Ramesh Angral in a statement said that on the basis of information from command MI unit of Army which was further developed by Mendher police, a joint naka of Mendhar police and Army’s 37 RR was established near Government Degree College in Mendhar town on Monday evening.
“During naka checking, one local young man identified as 24-year-old Karan Dutta, son of Koshal Dutta of Dharana was intercepted and during frisking, three packets of Heroine like substance weighing 2.5 Kilograms were recovered from his possession, SSP further said.
He added that a case under FIR number 258/20 under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in police station Mendhar. “The possibility of consignment being smuggled from across the border cannot be ruled out,” SSP said.
