Navjot Kaur Sidhu quits BJP Chandigarh

October 8:  Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday, less than a month after her husband did the same.  MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu had her resignation delivered by an aide to the BJP's head office in Chandigarh. BJP's President Vijay Sampla accepted the resignation.  Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from the party on September 14, two months after he gave up his Rajya Sabha seat citing differences with the party. He announced a political front, Awaaz-e-Punjab early last month, but later decided against turning it into it a political party before the assembly elections.  Punjab is due to hold elections in 2017.
