Srinagar, Jan 16: Fresh spell of Snow fall in on Monday, gives respite from the intense cold waves prevailed last week, with notching the night temperature below than the normal.

In Kashmir higher reaches and plains witnessed moderate to low snowfall on Monday. Closing the Srinagar- Highway and crippling the normal life in Kashmir , but still people are feeling relaxed as the second snowfall of this season provides break from bitter cold waves, notching the night temperature below than the normal up to minus 7.

Metrological Department Kashmir said that, there has been snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir like Gulmarg,

Khilonmarg, Afarwat, Pahalgam and low to moderate snowfall in plains of Valley from the Today, and this trend will continue for some days.

According to the MeT officials the night temperature of Srinagar City was minus 0.9 degrees Celsius one degree above than the normal.

“The will remain same for some days and will gradually improve,” MeT dept said.

Meanwhile traffic control room said that there was heavy snowing in

Banihal at Jawahar Tunnel, Patnitop and Kud, whereas massive rainfall

at other places on National Highway till late evening, due to which

the traffic movement was stopped.

“With Heavy snowfall and rains triggering landslides at various places on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the road will remain closed till

further order,” traffic official said.

Div Com issues Weather advisory:

Meanwhile Divisional Commissioner Kashmir have issued a weather advisory to the all district heads of Kashmir valley and asked them to take all the precautionary measures in their respective districts.

Divisional Commissioner, Baseer Ahmad Khan, told KNS that the weather advisory have being sent to the all districts.

“The concerned Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir Division have been asked to take all the precautionary measures in their respective districts.” Khan said

CE R&B visit sound bound south Kashmir:

While on the direction of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Engineer Rand B Kashmir Ab Hameed Sheikh on Monday visited south Kashmir, to take meeting regarding the snow clearance in the south Kashmir.

The department has set up a control room and appealed to public to contact them on phone no 0194-2311364 in case of emergency and help.
