Naeem, Mansoor ruining party, says PDP MLA

NL Correspondent

Srinagar: While the resignation by two ministers has brought chaos within the PDP, party's MLA Zadibal Monday blamed Naeem Akhtar and Peerzada Mansoor for ruining the PDP.

“These two (Naeem and Mansoor) should be thrown out of the PDP if Mehbooba Ji wants to save the party from further weakening. Majority of the PDP leaders especially legislators are against them. They are not speaking in open, fear reprisal from Naeem in the party as they know he is a big shot,” Abid said, who represents a Shia dominated constituency of the Srinagar district said, adding “they (PDP leaders) may resign if these two continue to dictate the terms in the party and give bad advice to Mehbooba Ji.”

He termed Naeem Akhtar and Peerzada Mansoor as the most incompetent (Naabkaar) in the PDP.

Abid, uncle of Imran Raza Ansari, who resigned as cabinet minister, said there was strong resentment among the party leaders against these two people and all bad things had happened because of them.

The MLA Zadibal, said Naeem and Mansoor don't deserve to be in the government and should also be thrown out of the PDP. “Naeem Akhtar has already ruined the department and will now destroy the Public Works Department with his incompetence. He was made MLC by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed then inducted into the cabinet despite never having contested elections. The reality is that he can't manage to get 200 votes against me in any constituency. If he (Naeem) manages 200 votes, then I will leave Assembly seat. Mansoor holds the post of Vice-Chairman Khadi and Village and does disposal of crores of rupees and uses government's vehicles besides getting salary. He has no contribution towards the party and lost assembly elections with a non-influential person.”

He said Imran and Basharat recently resigned from the cabinet because Naeem and Mansoor. “Earlier four ministers were dropped because of Naeem and Mansoor's mischief when Mehbooba Mufti took over the Chief Minister of the state. These two work for their vested interests,” Abid asserted.

Earlier, Tariq Hamid Karra, who recently joined the Congress had demanded that Naeem Akhtar along with two other leaders of the party should not be included in the cabinet following which he resigned from the PDP.

Imran Ansari, who held the portfolio of Minister for Information , Technical Education and Youth Services and recently resigned from cabinet, seeking portfolio of significant department.

While Basharat Bukhari resigned after he was relieved of portfolios of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management and assigned the Horticulture department.

Abid said people from Shia community may not vote for the PDP in the by-polls of Srinagar and Parliamentary elections if Imran Ansari is not given the portfolio where he can deliver the promises “we had made with the people as promised by Mehbooba Ji before forming the government”. “How can Mehbooba backtrack from her promise? Imran can deliver better in the departments like R&B, Education or the Rural Development Department. There is no Shia representation in the cabinet now. The Shia community will be upset with that.”

However, he said they will always work for strengthening the party as have been done in the past and will not resign from the PDP.

Abid said Imran won't withdraw the resignation unless the Chief Minister fulfils her promise with him. He said Imran will leave for Iran Tuesday (today).

Both Ansari and Basharat had a detailed meeting with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday and Sunday after a three member party delegation met the aggrieved legislators, but the successive meetings couldn't break the ice as yet.
