Radical groups in Kashmir to face crackdown soon
Jammu Tawi, August 26 (KIP): Though the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh,
has given an assurance, during his two-day visit to Srinagar, that
pellet guns were to be replaced by pepper guns, both the state
Government and the BJP led NDA Government plan to order a crack down
to some groups of radicals who are behind the turmoil in Kashmir.
In fact Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti is not wrong when she
said that 95 per cent people are for peace and development and the
only five per cent of the radicals incite people to indulge in acts of
violence. And reports said that the central intelligence agencies have
identified some 80- groups of radicals against whom action was being
taken. However, the Government will wait for another one week till the
end of call for shutdown and protest rallies given by separatists till
September 1.
After September 1 if the separatists extended their shutdown call the Government will deal firmly with these separatists and some groups of radicals. In fact if people including employees and students respond to the call for shutdown they do so because of scare of militants who are said to have sneaked into the ranks of protesters.
Reports said that if some security personnel were injured and
two security men were killed it was their result of firing from
militants.
Security agencies have been told to intensify their
patrolling and carry out search operations only on the basis of
specific inputs from the intelligence agencies. And the recent
recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition from an underground pit
is the result of specific intelligence agency reports.
The Government will give time to an All Party delegation from
the centre to visit Kashmir so that the flames of unrest were doused.
If the All Party delegation members succeeded in restoring peace to
Kashmir it will be appreciated by the BJP led NDA Government. If the
members of the All Party delegation fail to stem the rot the state and
the central Governments will order a major crackdown on separatists
and radical groups. (KIP)
