Political parties hail Indian army for surgical strikes

SRINAGAR: The mainstream parties have hailed the army for carrying out surgical strikes against militant camps in Pakistan occupied .

Tensions are on high between the neighbouring countries since the Uri incident happened and there has been further escalation after India claimed that its army had carried out strikes against militant camps inside Pakistan occupied Kashmir on Thursday morning, which the Pakistan has termed baseless.

While in and Kashmir, the surgical strikes against militant camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir has been hailed by mainstream parties but said war is not the solution and they should de-escalate the tension through the dialogue.

Senior BJP leader and deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh said it was a befitting reply to Islamabad and should be welcomed and appreciated. “This move has filled the entire nation with enthusiasm. This is a great morale booster for us, our security forces and army,” Singh said.

“Pakistan has been continuously carrying out cowardly acts, be in Uri or other parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Their terrorists have been getting training by the Pakistan Army in their camps. Pakistan was behaving like a terrorist state,” he added.

Senior Conference leader Ali Mohammad Sagar said whenever there is escalating tension between India and Pakistan, it is Jammu and Kashmir that is the most affected.

“The National Conference has always been advocating that dialogue is the only way to resolve the differences. The two neighbouring countries should resolve all the differences through dialogue and eschew the line of war,” Sagar said.

Congress spokesperson Ravindar Sharma said the Congress party fully supports the army for having carried out the “surgical attack” against militant camps in Pakistan. “The nation comes first. Whatever action has been taken by the army, we fully support and salute the brave Indian soldiers,” the Congress spokesperson said. He said despite India's efforts for having friendly relationship with the neighbouring country, the Pakistan has been escalating the tension.

“But the Congress believes that India and Pakistan should resolve all issues through the dialogue for that Pakistan should make the conducive and stop escalating the tension. There should be no war as it is the people of J&K that are most affected whenever there is war like situation along the borders,” he said.
