Speaker to eat a humble pie

Tawi, Jan 10, CNS: The proceedings of Jammu and legislative assembly started with uproar on Tuesday after Congress legislators staged protests against the Speaker Kavinder Gupta for leveling “false allegations” against Rigzin Jora and other legislators.

The members stormed into the Well of the house and demanded an apology from the Speaker. They were joined by the Conference legislators as well.

The MLAs were shouting like “Nagpur speaker Haai haai”, “RSS speaker hai hai” and “Sharam karo sharam karo Speaker sharam karo”.

Amid the uproar, the members from treasury benches stood up and shouted slogans in favour of the speaker.

Earlier Speaker Kavinder Gupta accused opposition members of raising slogans like ‘Kashmir Baney Ga Pakistan', while Congress legislator Nawang Rigzin Jora blamed Speaker for misleading the House and twisting the facts. “We didn't say ‘Kashmir Baney ga Pakistan but we said ‘Kashmir Baney ga qabirstan. You are lying and misleading the House. You should apologize,” Jora told the Speaker.

The legislators also accused Speaker of running RSS agenda in the House. “You are biased and have no right to take care of this Chair. You should step down,” opposition legislators told the Speaker who later on took his words back.
