Srinagar: Former Chief Minister and National Conference's Working President, Omar Abdullah, opposed the propositions put forward by the Government regarding giving property to the Non-State subjects of the state.
In this regard, he called the other Ministers “Illiterate”, arguing that the Cabinet Ministers of the state lack any experience, and many of them cannot even read properly.
He mentioned that these Cabinet Ministers rushed into passing the parliamentary bill without analyzing its consequences and later on when complaints started rising against it, they tried to settle it by striking it off records.
Later, the BJP-PDP Government decided to put the matter in the hands of the Selection Committee, so that it could be put on hold for a while. He argued that the bill should be dealt with at the earliest.
Condemning against the choice of words that the former CM used, the present Cabinet Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri, asked him to retract his statement. Subsequently, Omar Abdullah took back his words.
