Govt keen to preserve pristine glory of GGM Science College: Malik

JAMMU, JULY 29: For reviving the pristine glory of Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College Heritage Complex, Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik has asked the concerned authorities to prepare a blue print for renovation of the complex and asked to prepare the project for upgradation of science block, boys hostel, staff rooms, laboratory and library buildings in the initial phase and submit the same for funding so that the repair and renovation work could be started.
This was said by the Minister while inspecting the ongoing construction work of Common Hall and Multipurpose Sports Hall, would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.21 crore.
Special Secretary Summer Secretariat Mr Tilak Raj Sharma , Principal GGM Science College, Dr. M. S. Bloeria, Heads of various Departments besides JKPCC officers accompanied the Minister.
While inspecting the development works, he asked the executing agency to complete the ongoing development works within stipulated time frame so that the students do not face any problem. He said that coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah is keen to preserve the pristine glory of the heritage college.
Responding to the demands, he asked the college authority to prepare the detailed project report for construction of Girls Hostel and reception building and submit the same for funding. Malik also inaugurated plantation drive and planted different trees in the college premises.He asked the students to participate in the drive and plant maximum trees in college premises . He said that student have a major role to play in preserving the environment and making it clean and green
Earlier, several deputations from Mahore, Reasi, Udhampur, Kathua Billawar, Hiranagar, Rajouri and Jammu also met the Minister and projected the problems of their respective areas. The Minister gave patient hearing to them and assured that their projected problems would be solved in a phased manner. For establishing the income generating units, he said that instructions were issued to J&K Bank authorities to provide hassle free loans to skilled unemployed youth of the State so that they could start their ventures and earn livelihood. He said that Government is making all out efforts to provide full assistance to the unemployed youth by providing trainings in different sectors.
















He asked the youth to explore job avenues in rural industry like beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, floriculture, aromatic and medicinal plants and other agro-based industries.
Mr. Malik said that all District Industries Centers have been asked to conduct special awareness camps so that the unemployed educated youth could avail the benefits of State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes. He said Government has proposed various incentives for the self-employment adding that seed money would be provided to the unemployed youth for the purpose. He asked the youth to come forward and take benefits of these schemes.
Elaborating on the issue of employment, the Minister said that the Government would explore all possibilities to conduct special recruitment drives for unemployed youth in police and paramilitary forces.
