NC's U-turns responsible for alienation, armed conflict in Valley: PDP
Srinagar, Feb 25 (KNS): A day after National Conference president eulogised militants for fighting “freedom struggle in Kashmir”, PDP said that such U-turns and changing political colours by the NC has sown seeds of alienation and violence in the State, particularly in Kashmir.
PDP senior leader and government spokesman Naeem Akhtar said that NC has been changing its colours season after season which has cost Kashmir heavily.
“Because of U-turns of NC since 1931, Kashmir has reached today to such circumstances. In 1947 Sheikh Abdullah was a votary of accession, in 1953 he launched Plebiscite Front and sowed the seeds of alienation in Kashmir, the result of which we are reaping today…..Sheikh nurtured separatism for 22 years and then called it political waywardness. And then he could not achieve what he lost in 1953,” Naeem told KNS.
“Farooq Abdullah continues these U-turns even today. Someday he would say “bomb Pakistan', ‘jail Hurriyat leaders till they rot', ‘catch and kill'. Then he started Task Force and Ikhwan in 90s that alienated people further and incurred huge losses to civilian life,” he said.
Naeem said that statement made by Farooq Abdullah is in keeping the electoral exercise which is at hand,” he added. (KNS)
