Devotee injured in stone-pelting Kashmir

Srinagar, June 12 (PTI) A 19-year-old Kashmiri Pandit devotee on her way to Mela Kheer Bhawani was injured during a stone pelting incident in south 's Kulgam district, police said today.

Mansi Koul sustained minor head injury by glass splinters of a window broken during stone-pelting at Wanpoh in Kulgam district last night, a police official said.

He said the girl, who lives in Janipur area of , was discharged from a local hospital after being administered first-aid.

The residents of Wanpoh were protesting against lack of basic amenities when the vehicles carrying devotees going to Kheer Bhawani passed through the area at around 10.30 pm last night, he said.

Thousands of Kashmiri Pandits today thronged the Kheer Bhawani Temple in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district as part of the annual mela.
