Karra to get position in JK PCC rejig soon
Jammu, March 28 (KIP):- Since the Congress has plans of carrying out
reorganization in the congress at the national level many senior
congress leaders including the secretaries seek suitable birth in the
reorganized party.
Three leaders from the state of Jammu and Kashmir too are keen
to find a place in the Congress setup. One is Tariq Hameed Karra who,
quit the PDP and the Lok Sabha seat, who is wishing to be installed as
PCC President after he was denied Congress ticket for Srinagar Lok Sabha seat. Since the Congress and the NC had forged a pre-poll alliance under which Srinagar seat was allotted to NC and the Congress was given the Anantnag seat Karra could not get the mandate from the
Congress.
Now that G. A. Mir the PCC President is contesting the Anantnag
seat his win would leave the seat for PCC president vacant. Even if
he does not win Ghulam Nabi Azad is not willing to allow Mir to head
the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir.
Azad, who is quite close to the top Congress circles, is also
trying to get suitably adjusted in the reorganized party.
That Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have decided to reorganize
the party at the national level was to reactivate the Congress to
take on the BJP in polls in various states after it was mauled in
several states except for Punjab.
Reports said that Azad is being given a free hand in the
reorganization of the party in Jammu an d Kashmir and besides that
Azad is being told to spend sufficient time in the state to reactivate
the Congress. (KIP)
