For BJP’s follies, Jammu has narrow escape from Radical-Kashmir Doctrines

Date:

Anti-Women, Anti- Bill referred to select committee

It is no use crying over the spilt milk, goes an old saying that exactly matches the aerobics that BJP legislators did today in J&K Assembly by urging their own coalition government not to press for passing the Amendment Bill on Transfer of Property Act and Alienation of Land Act and to referring these to a select committee of JK Assembly. These amendments were a clever ploy by the PDP towards Radical- Doctrines- a common goal of all Kashmir parties. Unfortunately, the dimwits of BJP could not see through the hidden design of its coalition partner PDP.

Kashmir's maneuverability over New Delhi's stupidity offers clear insight into the Radical-Kashmir Doctrines that stands no comparison with any thought process in the rest of the country, while political birds of Jammu can least be termed as astute politicians for lack of grey matter.

The Northlines is the only publication which exclusively carried out the report of Bill proposing amendments to land transfer laws and repercussions for Jammu on Thursday. The report was widely appreciated by the people who shape public opinion.

We have attempted to find out first reaction from the senior lawyers and public men over the issue that has put the coalition government particularly its partner BJP in dock for creating such mess.

A former president of the Jammu Bar and senior Advocate, Mr. B S Slathia commented, ‘The approval of this bill stands in violation of the fundamental right to property of Jammuites and also nullifies the Supreme Court's and J&K High Court's orders on the issue of Transfer of Property Act.  I find it absurd as to how BJP that got a mandate from Jammu could let something like this happen. Such kind of controversial bill(s) should be withdrawn forthwith.”

Abhinav Sharma, President Jammu Bar Association when contacted said that he had no information on the details of the bill. The association will conduct a meeting on this soon and decide our stand.”  “I have no information on the details of the bill. The association will conduct a meeting on this soon and decide our stand.”

BJP spokesperson Prof. Verinder Gupta came honest by saying, “It is unfortunate that BJP ministers became party to the amendments proposed by PDP in Cabinet meeting. The amendments are anti-women and anti-Jammu. The J&K women shall lose the property rights after marrying a non-state subject person. This shall be against the High Court and Supermen Court judgments.

The second amendment in Land Alienation Act shall deprive Jammu of outside investment and flow of talent and skill. Jammu legislatures should oppose both the amendments tooth and nail.

Advocate, H C Jalmaria said, since the coalition comprised of two parties practicing two extremes, they should avoid such controversies. The BJP has made mockery of becoming party to such bills which are detrimental to interests of Jammu people. BJP MLAs should be more mature

A former DG of Police and a political activist, Man Mohan Khajuria when called plainly told, “Sorry, I have not studied the bill, so no comments.”

Numerous attempts were made by us to reach Mr. Bhim Singh and BJP Spokes person and senior advocate Mr. Sunil Sethi, but we could not get them through.
