BJP, a divided house on talks with secessionist

Date:

Tawi, May 19 (KIP):- The BJP is a divided House with the state
leadership of the BJP differing with the leadership of the
party as far as reopening of the process of dialogue with separatists
is concerned.
Ram Madhav General Secretary and In-charge of Jammu and
affairs has been conveying to the National leadership that
there was no room for holding talks with separatists who were engaged
in inciting people to violence. Even the state unit of the BJP is a
divided house with one set of senior leaders favouring talks with
separatists but the junior leaders and activists opposing talks with
separatists.

Union Finance and Defence Minister, Arun Jaitley has left door
open for holding talks with Hurriyat Conference. Jaitley said, “Let the
situation in the state become normal, which is the top priority for
the government and as and when we decide this matter, the central
government will make an announcement.”

However, he said he was not going to speculate on holding parleys with
the Hurriyat right now.

BJP's coalition partners in the State PDP has been consistently
talking of engaging the Hurriyat leadership in talks but the BJP
leadership including its national general secretary had overruled
holding any parleys with them.

Commenting on the situation in Kashmir, Jaitley said in some parts of
the State particularly in south Kashmir, the situation had been quite
challenging.

The national leadership of the BJP has ignored senior BJP
leader,Yashwant Sinha's consistent pleas for reopening of doors for
talks with Hurriyat leaders. This indicates that so long Hurriyat
leaders stop taking dictation from Pakistan was not willing to
hold parleys with them.

The separatists have carved out a niche in the valley and
their morale has been up as a result of very poor polling in the
recent Lok Sabha by-poll in Srinagar and the cancellation of Anantnag
Lok Sabha by-poll and hence they  are not ready  to fritter away this
advantage by holding talks with the central Government.
