    3 terrorists killed in Laweypora encounter

    In a terror attack at Laweypora today in the outskirts of Srinagar city, two terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire with police and security forces. At about 1145 hours, terrorists fired at the joint naka of CRPF and police at Lawaypora. In the exchange of fire two terrorists were killed on the spot and one terrorist sustained injuries. Moreover one security force personnel also attained martyrdom. The two killed terrorists have been identified as Khateeb Ahmad Dass of Bijbehara and Zia-u-Rehman Wani of Aarath Budgam.
    However, one security force jawan also attained martyrdom. He has been identified as Constable Ramesh Rajan CRPF 73 BN. We pay our rich tributes to martyr Ramesh for the supreme sacrifices made in the line of duty. As per police records both the terrorists had a history of terror records and were wanted by law for their complicity in terror crimes and attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities.
    According to police records, Khateeb Dass was the brother-in-law of terrorist Mugees Mir of Parimpora who was earlier killed in an encounter. Khateeb Dass as per police records was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit HM and had been part of groups involved in carrying out terror attacks in the areas of South . Several terror crime cases were registered against him including case FIR No. 104/2015 pertaining to terror crimes. As per police records Zia u Rehman Wani was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT and was part of groups involved in carrying out attacks on guard posts, security deployments and several other grenade attacks besides civilian atrocities. He had history of terror crime records since 2018. Several terror crime cases were registered against him including case FIR No. 73/2018 pertaining to decamping of weapons from the residential guard post of erstwhile Congress MLC Muzaffar Parray at Jawahar Nagar Srinagar. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists. All the recovered incriminating materials have been taken into case records for the purpose of investigation and probe their complicity in other terror crimes. Police have registered a case in this matter and further investigation is in progress. Slain CRPF jawan Ramesh Ranjan (30) played an “instrumental” role in the killing of two terrorists and injuring of another when they were intercepted at a checkpost near Srinagar in and Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said. Ranjan, from the 73rd battalion of the force, suffered a fatal bullet shot on his head during the gunbattle with the terrorists, but kept on fighting “valiantly” and also retaliated with firing from his rifle. He succumbed to his injuries subsequently.”Ranjan was instrumental in killing the scooter-riding terrorists when they came near the checkpost at Shalteng in Parampora,” a senior official said. A team of 13 CRPF personnel, led by an assistant sub-inspector, was deployed at the checkpost when the incident took place around noon, he added.”I bow down to our brave brother who sacrificed his life in the service of the nation. Our thoughts are with his near and dear ones,” CRPF Director General (DG) A P Maheshwari said. A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Srinagar in the evening after which Ranjan's body is expected to be airlifted and brought to Delhi for subsequent transportation to his home town in Bihar. Nearly a month away from his 31st birthday, Ranjan hailed from Bihar's Arrah. The third injured terrorist is admitted to a hospital in Srinagar.
