Govt. assures action within days

Srinagar, Jan 10: There are no less than 10 lac Aadhar Enrolment forms piling up and gathering dust at the concerned offices in the state with no action over the issue being taken till date.

The issue is reportedly being resolved at the highest level and a high level meeting in this regard is being convened. “We will have a video conference with and 's Chief Secretary on Wednesday over the issue and I am sure within few days only, people would be able to get their adhaar cards from concerned offices of the state,” DC Srinagar told KNS.

Sources within the dispensation revealed that there are 10 lac people in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that have not been given the Aadhar cards till date despite completion of all the formalities.

Fewer centres  and machines and skilled staff added with some software problem in computers have been responsible for the entire mess.  It was divulged further that those who are being made to move from pillar to post for the issuance of the Aadhar cards include the students, job aspirants, daily wagers, government and private sector employees, widows and pensioners.

Interestingly, the Governor, N N Vohra during Governor's rule had in February last year, directed the Information Department to complete the enrolment under the Population Register (NPR) and issuance of Aadhar cards by March 31,2016 but the deadline passed off without any progress.

However, the state still is reeling under crises over the want of Aadhar cards. “How could such a pathetic display of work be there? It is the matter of a serious concern that there are 10 lac Aadhar applicants waiting for their cards and all are in desperate need of the same,” says an applicant.

Meanwhile, it was informed that the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has taken serious note of the delays done in Aadhar enrolment in the state, directing the concerned to streamline the system so that applicants aren't taken for a ride.

Currently, there are hundreds of women whose monthly widow and old age pension has been withheld for want of Aadhaar cards.
